Today we took Melody to her first primary activity. The activity was about building eternal families. Megan Shirts is the primary president and her husband John invited us to join them for dinner that evening with missionaries and them.
We went over to their home about 5:00 pm and enjoyed a wonderful meal. After the missionaries left John and Barry went to the Bishop’s house to watch a game and I stayed and talked with Megan while our kids played together.
The Shirts have three children, one boy and two girls and their second oldest child is a girl name Olivia and she is about Melody’s age. They hit is off right away and they had a blast playing together.
Megan and I began talking about education and I was so excited to find out that her desires and background on education were so similar to mine and my husband’s. She had a relative attend George Wythe University (an awesome college that teaches Social Leadership) in Cedar City for a year, and she knew about Oliver DeMille (He is a huge part of the college), and heard of the book A Thomas Jefferson Education (written by Oliver DeMille). What a small world we live in. It is great to have friends in our new ward and to have such great support around us. The Lord does watch over his children.
It is amazing that as we travel we will always have the support and help of the church and like minded individuals that inspire and uplift us along the way.
I would love to see picts of your new home/boat.
Sounds like you are all having a wonderful adventure.
Thanks for keeping in touch with everyone. – Yvonne
